Family Days Follow Up

We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend and a great start to the school year. Over the past weekend, the Gateway team was represented by our very own Paige Hytinen and Marisa Mieczkowski, who volunteered at the 7th annual Family Days event. Family Days, sponsored by Autism Alliance of Michigan and Delta Dental, took place in Royal Oak as part the Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats, and Eats festival. This event was created to allow individuals with autism and their families to enter the event free of charge one hour before the doors open. Last year over 333,000 visitors attended the Art, Beats, and Eats events, resulting in $200,000 raised for local charities. We are excited to see the outcomes of this year’s festival because it was a hit! At the Family Days event, families were welcome to enjoy the carnival rides, art galleries, local music, and the yummy eats before the rest of the crowd enters. One of our volunteers let us know that, “the event was awesome, and I will definitely volunteer again next year.” We are tremendously grateful for all the passionate individuals who are part of our Gateway team and we want to give a big shout out to both Paige and Marisa! This event continues to be a great opportunity for families to enjoy the last weekend of summer while also raising autism awareness. If you were not able to attend this year, please come out and say hello next year. Continue to follow our social media posts and blogs to see what’s new with Gateway and to find cool events in your area.
