Fun Activities for Your Family

There are a number of business and organizations in our local community that seek to provide supportive, inclusive environments for children with special needs and their families. Below you will find a list of organizations and events that will welcome you and your child to enjoy what they have to offer!

Sky Zone (Shelby Township)
Sky Zone offers a sensory friendly environment 4 times a year. This is a great opportunity to get the family together and jump around!

My Turn (Ann Arbor)
After gathering information from parents that have children with special needs, they decided to create a partnership with local Ann Arbor organizations to create environments where families can feel welcomed to learn about science, technology, and so much more.

Play Place (Sterling Heights)
The staff at play place set out to create an inclusive environment welcoming all individuals with autism to come play games and socialize. This is a good opportunity to hang out with peers and engage in recreational activities. They also host teen nights.

Falconers at Potter Zoo (Lansing)
Falconers would like for your family to check out their up-close and personal animal experience along with other sensory friendly activities when they open their doors to all who have unique challenges such as autism.

Abrams Planetarium (East Lansing)
Abrams Planetarium provides visitors with a live presentation about stars and the cosmos along with other popular shows. They host sensory days on the third Sunday of every month.

Sierra Rose Farms (DeWitt)
Sierra Rose Farms introduces participants to miniature horses gradually, to allow children the time to become comfortable being around and building a relationship with the animals. There are structured activities that are introduced slowly and are repeated each day, building on the previous day’s lesson. Programs generally run 8 weeks long for an hour each week.
